Description
Umeshu is a traditional Japanese liqueur made from ume fruit. It features a sweet and tangy flavor profile with hints of almond.
The production process involves maturing the whole ume fruit with the stone intact which allows for an optimal balance of ume extract and alcohol. The citric acid present in the fruit contributes to its refreshing tang enhancing the overall flavor and stimulating the appetite. Additionally malic and succinic acids are also present in Umeshu. The soaking of the fruit in alcohol extracts flavors from the flesh peel and stone resulting in a distinct fruity aroma with notes of almond and marzipan.
