Nick Newell was born with a congenital birth defect that resulted in him having only one hand. Throughout his childhood he faced different treatment torment and bullying. Determined to change his circumstances he joined the high school wrestling team with the support of his best friend.
Despite facing initial losses Nick’s determination led him to rapidly improve his wrestling skills. Encouraged by his friend he ventured into MMA to compete for a cash prize aiming to support his single mother. With the guidance of his wrestling coach he gained access to the professional MMA scene.
Nick’s early career in MMA was challenging as many established fighters were reluctant to compete against him viewing it as a no-win situation. However he gradually carved out a path to recognition ultimately earning a chance to fight professionally.
