Description
Pataua (Oenocarpus bataua) is a tall palm tree native to South America commonly found throughout the Amazon region. Its fruit is used in the making of wine by local communities hence its scientific name which translates to “wine-fruit”.
The oil extracted from the fruit’s pulp is popularly used in salads and fried food due to its composition which is rich in essential fatty acids and very similar to olive oil. It is also rich in oleic acid making it a powerful moisturiser with revitalising and emollient properties featuring a light texture and non-greasy feel.
