Description
Andiroba (Carapa guaianensis) is a native tree from the Amazon region belonging to the Meliaceae family and can grow up to 30 meters tall. It has a strong odor and resembles the chestnut tree. Its seeds are collected from the riverbanks of the Amazonian Rainforest and processed to become a valuable active ingredient for cosmetics.
The oil extracted from the fruit seed is rich in palmitic oleic linoleic and stearic acids which contribute to its high moisturizing activity skin renewal and healing properties. Additionally this oil is commonly used as a massage oil to alleviate bruises arthritis and rheumatism and it is recognized as a powerful natural odorless insect repellent.
